When you are looking closely at the cost of your nose job, you will notice that there are many very cheap prices available on the Internet for Rhinoplasty surgery (as well as other forms of cosmetic treatment).
Do you really want to pay $10,000 for a top surgeon in Harley Street or Beverley Hills when you can travel to India, have your nose fixed, and have a great vacation to fully recuperate too – all for a bargain price. Plus, with the holiday time involved you can look and feel fully recovered before you fly back home.
Despite what you may initially think, there are some top class surgery practices in countries such as India or Thailand that would really surprise you with the high standards that they display. Some are at least as good to look at as you would expect in a top class medical centre in the USA.
Anyone who has travelled to Thailand for example will be able to tell you that you can stay in a fantastic 5 star hotel for about the same cost as a 2-3 star hotel in the UK or US. Take into account cheap flight deals and surgery packages and it is possible to have an operation and a two week vacation with flights for less money than you would pay at home for just the operation.
But, and it is a big but, the average standards in the “cheaper” countries are not generally as high as back home. Regulation of standards, the qualification and training of surgeons and nurses at some of the more underdeveloped countries are not always as high as the UK, Australia, USA etc.
It is really important that you dedicate yourself to even more research if you are looking abroad. Please look at the advice and series of questions that we recommend in our rhinoplasty before and after post and make sure you are satisfied with the answers.
Search for forums, and blogs with real people who have travelled abroad. Look for personal recommendations. Many surgeons in foreign countries have trained in the USA, UK etc and have the same high standards you should expect.
However, without appropriate thorough research you could end up receiving poor or dangerous treatment in a country, possibly without friends, and not knowing the language. This isn’t a reason to totally not consider having cosmetic surgery abroad, but it is enough of a threat to ensure that you really do your background research.
